TradingView Desktop Reader
Your AI reads your local TradingView desktop app: options chains with greeks, per-strike IV, news, watchlists, alerts, chart state, and screenshots. Requires TradingView.app on macOS.
Try asking: “Show the options chain with greeks for AAPL in my TradingView app”

What is this skill?
If you use the TradingView desktop app on macOS, your AI can now read your live market data, options chains (with greeks and IV), watchlists, alerts, chart layouts, and even take chart screenshots—directly from your logged-in app. This is perfect for active traders and analysts who want hands-free access to their TradingView data, options analytics, and custom setups.
What you can do
- Pull a full options chain for any ticker, with greeks (delta, gamma, theta, vega, rho), IV, and bid/ask IVs (e.g., "AAPL 6/21 calls: delta 0.52, IV 34%").
- See available expiries and contracts for options (e.g., "TSLA options: next expiry 2024-06-21, 120 contracts").
- Read your TradingView watchlists, including colored flag lists (e.g., "Red flag watchlist: 5 stocks").
- Check which alerts are active, fired, or offline (e.g., "NVDA price alert fired yesterday").
- Get the current symbol, interval, and layout of your active TradingView chart tab.
- Take a PNG screenshot of your TradingView chart for sharing or analysis.
How it works
Your AI connects to your TradingView desktop app using the Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) via opencli and its TradingView plugin. It reads your session cookies and queries the app for market data, options chains, watchlists, alerts, and chart state. For screenshots, it captures the active chart tab and saves it as a PNG. All actions are read-only—your account, watchlists, and layouts remain unchanged.
Good to know
- Requires macOS with TradingView.app installed and logged in.
- Needs Node.js 24+ and the opencli TradingView plugin.
- One-time relaunch with CDP enabled: run
opencli tradingview launchand save your layouts first. - Only works on CLI-based agents (Claude Code, etc.), not on Claude.ai's sandbox.

name: tradingview-reader
description: Read the user's local TradingView desktop app through opencli: quotes, options chains with greeks and per-strike IV, options expiries, screener results across stocks, crypto, forex, futures, and bonds, gainers and losers, news headlines and full stories, alerts (active, fired, offline fires), watchlists including colored flag lists, symbol search, chart state, and chart screenshots. Use this skill whenever the user asks for any of these from TradingView ("TV") — for example an options chain, puts, or IV skew for a ticker, an oversold-stock screen, their red flag list, which alerts fired, or a screenshot of their chart. For plain quotes, TA readouts, scans, or futures without the desktop app, prefer tradingview-mcp. Read-only: it never places trades or edits watchlists, alerts, or layouts.
