Fintel Institutional Data
Your AI pulls Fintel's institutional market data: short interest, borrow rates, fails-to-deliver, 13F holders, insider trades, analyst ratings, and more. Requires your Fintel API key for access.
Try asking: “Show the latest short interest and borrow rate for AMC on Fintel”

What is this skill?
Institutional market intelligence is often hidden behind paywalls or scattered across filings. With this skill, your AI can directly query Fintel (fintel.io) for detailed institutional data: short interest, borrow rates, FTDs, 13F ownership, insider transactions, analyst ratings, price targets, and more. It's a must-have for equity researchers, short sellers, and anyone tracking institutional flows or regulatory filings.
What you can do
- Check the latest short interest, days to cover, and short squeeze risk for any ticker (e.g., "AMC short interest: 24%, 5 days to cover").
- See borrow rates, cost to borrow, and shares available for shorting (e.g., "TSLA borrow rate: 2.5%, 1.2M shares available").
- Review fails-to-deliver (FTD) history and daily short volume (e.g., "GME FTDs: 300,000 on 2024-06-01").
- Find institutional owners and 13F holders of a stock (e.g., "Top 10 holders of NVDA").
- Track insider buying/selling from SEC Form 3/4/5 (e.g., "Recent insider buys for AAPL").
- Get analyst price targets, ratings, earnings/dividend calendars, and EOD prices.
How it works
Your AI uses your Fintel API key to access Fintel's REST API or MCP server. It sends GET requests for the data you specify—like short interest, ownership, or insider trades—and parses the response into clear tables or summaries. All queries are read-only, so your data and account remain safe. The AI can also look up securities by ticker, CUSIP, ISIN, or FIGI, and fetch leaderboard or watchlist data if available.
Good to know
- You need a paid Fintel API plan and an API key (set as FINTEL_API_KEY in your environment).
- Some datasets (short interest, FTDs) may require extra permissions on your Fintel account.
- Works on CLI-based agents with shell access (Claude Code, etc.), not on Claude.ai's sandbox.
- Only supports read (GET) endpoints—no watchlist or alert changes.
